And slow in pain of our country’s division
We need healing for separated families
We need no enemies, only friends

II. The whole world is praying for
The Korean peninsula to be nuclear free
We must end the war and go for peace
We are the branches of one old tree
Brothers and sisters embracing each other
Peace is for everyone!

III. Let us build the tracks for the peace train
To carry us together on a journey beyond
The DMZ, traveling North, South, East, West,
We have one precious globe, it’s our home
Let’s keep it clean, let’s dismantle the nukes
No more fear, no more bitter talk

IV. We will eat ‘Pyungyang Nangmyeun’*
We sing out peace, we dance together
Now we begin a new history
We will never go back to the dark days
Peace in Korea, Peace in the world
Let’s be the seeds of peace!

*Traditionally popular cold noodles originating from North Korea.
It was served at the North and South summit meetings. 


평화의 악수

I. 세월은 흘러 흘러 70년
길고도 무거웠던 고통의 세월!
우리 서로 미워하고 싸우던 그 시절
다시는 되돌아가지 않기로 약속한
우리는 길동무, 손에 손 잡고
평화의 악수를 합시다.

II. 분단의 쇠사슬 함께 끊고
DMZ를 너머서 북으로 남으로
온 세계로 달리는 평화열차 타고
설레는 마음 싣고 여행을 떠납시다!
우리는 한 뿌리에서 나온 형제자매들
평화의 악수를 합시다.

III. 함께 타 오르던 광화문 촛불들이여
우리 함께 파도치는 가슴이었지
슬픈 사람, 억울한 사람, 노동자들,
농민들과 트랙터들 그리고 소들까지
노인들과 아기들 함께 함성을 울렸던
그 날 없이 오늘이 있으랴!

IV. 새 역사는 이제부터 시작이니
두려움 없이 나아가자.
희망의 촛불 놓지 말자!
평화노래 부르며 춤을 추자!
모두가 행복한 일상을 위해
세계평화의 씨앗이 되자!
